This is one of the shock mounts pre-mod.
Notice that the screw embeds itself inside one part of the base. On this side, there is a metal washer and a second washer made out of something that resembles cardboard.
Note the metal washer stuck to the paper washer.
Exploded slightly. Take the metal washer off for now.
This is the rubber washer I cut down to provide a friction surface.
Here is the reassembled screw. I have added two #10 (3/16" approx. interior diameter) washers, each about 3/8" across on the outside. These are placed on the screw first, followed by the original metal washer.
This is the rubber washer placed against the back of the mount piece. This goes on the side -opposite- the paper washer.
Sliding the sandwich together.
Putting the screw back in.
The completed shock mount. Note that it looks just the same as before.
This is what the rubber washer looked like originally. I had to cut it down because I couldn't get one the right size.
